I spent years in the fast-paced world of the tech industry — surrounded by innovation, global teams, and cutting-edge solutions to some of the world’s most complex problems. Yet, every time I looked back home to Morocco, I saw a different challenge unfolding: our soil growing drier, our seasons more unpredictable, and our farmers struggling against drought and rising costs.
It struck me that while technology was changing everything from how we communicate to how we travel, the way we grew our food in Morocco hadn’t changed much in decades. Traditional farming methods were drinking up water we could no longer afford to waste, relying on pesticides that damaged both the environment and our health.
I began researching. I read, I studied, I visited farms, and I connected with experts in sustainable agriculture. That’s when I discovered vertical farming — a method that uses less water, no pesticides, and produces nutrient-rich crops all year round. It was exactly what Morocco needed: a way to grow more, using less, while protecting the planet.
